What is blackout smart film?
Blackout smart film is a dyed PDLC film that turns a deep, near-opaque dark in its off state, rather than the usual milky white frost. It offers stronger privacy and a better projection surface.
Blackout vs standard PDLC
Standard PDLC film turns a translucent milky white when off. Light still passes through it even though you cannot see shapes clearly. Blackout, or dyed, PDLC film adds a dark pigment so the off state is much darker and blocks far more light.
It is the same switchable technology underneath. The dye simply changes what the private state looks like, from bright frost to deep grey or near-black.
