Switchable glass engineered in India · Pan-India survey & installation

Applications

Bathrooms and shower screens

An open, light-filled bathroom that becomes completely private the moment you need it. The single most requested residential application — and the one that sells apartments.

Wet areas require laminated smart glass, not retrofit film. Exposed film edges wick moisture. See our wet area safety guide for the full specification.

Where it goes

Shower screens

The signature application — an open wet room that goes private only while the shower is in use.

Ensuite to bedroom

A glass wall between bedroom and ensuite, switching private on demand. Common in luxury residential and hotel suites.

Wet and dry separation

Dividing the wet zone from the dressing area without closing the room in or blocking borrowed daylight.

Windows to courtyards

Bathroom windows onto private courtyards that stay clear for light and switch opaque when the room is in use.

How we specify bathroom installations

  • Laminated toughened safety glass, never retrofit film
  • Fully sealed perimeter edges rated for wet-area exposure
  • Neutral-cure silicone only — acid-cure attacks the PDLC film
  • Driver and controls mounted outside the wet zone
  • Switch positioned outside the shower enclosure
  • Installation verified against local electrical zoning requirements

Bathroom questions

Is it safe with water and steam?

Yes. The film is sealed inside the laminate with no exposed conductor, the panel runs at 48–65V AC, and the driver sits outside the wet zone. Normal bathroom ventilation should be in place to protect the edge seal long term.

What if the power fails while I am in the shower?

The glass turns opaque. PDLC fails to private, never to transparent — so a power cut works in your favour here.

Does it fog up like normal glass?

Surface condensation behaves like any glass and clears the same way. It does not affect the switching layer.

Can it be retrofitted to an existing shower?

Only by replacing the screen with a laminated smart glass unit. Applying adhesive film to an existing shower screen is not something we will quote — the edges fail in wet conditions.
